Link (bookmark)

Links (bookmarks) - are accounts in the Link Commander databases that contain information about web pages you select.

Links have the following features: Link name Link address (URL) Link description Parent folder Link generation date Statistics on operations with link Data on last link verification User's settings
Link allows ensuring accessibility of web-page addresses (link verification).

Favorite bookmark

Links (bookmarks) that are stored in your bookmark collections can be distinguished by several parameters - importance, frequency of use, etc. You can place such bookmarks into separate collection "Favorites" with additional service available.

Folder

Folders - are sets of bookmarks organized in accordance with your convenience. Link Commander folders are similar to the ones of Windows.

Bookmark collection

Bookmark collection -- a set of links (bookmarks) and folders with records on selected web-pages - bookmarks, stored in a form of hierarchically ("tree-like") organized data. Each bookmark collection has to have its name and be stored in a separate add-in file with .lc extension.

Main application window

Main application window - is a Windows window that appears when you run Link Commander. Main application window contains title, main menu bar, toolbar, favorites bar, and two fixed side-by-side windows - Collection panels.

The Main Menu bar allows you to access all of the program's options.

Tool bar supports your access to the most often used commands.

Favorites bar supports your access to your favorite bookmarks.

Collection panels display the contest of selected bookmark collections.

bookmark manager

Collection panel

Collection panels are designed for displaying of contents of bookmark collection and for operating with built-in web browser. These panels have titles and a dismay space. The title has two buttons to control displaying mode.

Button drop trap bookmark manager is used to change the content of collection panels. There are five possible view modes: Tree view List view Properties view Search view Built-in browser view
Button maximize bookmark manager turns on the mode of one panel, button reastore bookmark manager turns on the mode of two panels.

Drop Trap

Drop Trap is a special feature of Link Commander that is a convenient way to save links quickly from other applications, and also to access some other functions in Link Commander. Drop Trap is a sign that looks like a star drop trap bookmark manager and it can be placed anywhere on the desktop on top of other applications. Drop Trap has a small size and does not interfere with your main work with Internet sessions. You can relocate Drop Trap to any place on the display. To do that you need to place cursor on the sign, left-click, hold it, and after that move the Drop Trap around the display.

By using the Drop Trap you can: Add links to the bookmark collections from other applications using drag'n'drop technology Open any bookmarks from your bookmark collections Minimize and restore dimensions of your main application window Start Supervisor Launch web browsers Refer to web pages Shut down Link Commander

Mark

Working with bookmark collections, one needs to know which ones are available in an active session of Link Commander and which are not. Validation of link availability can be done using the verification procedure. To display the results of verification, one can use tabs as the indicators on link icons, which can last during active working session. If necessary, the tabs from the icons of bookmarks can be removed.

Supervisor

Supervisor - a series of capabilities of Link Commander that is designed for observation of the current state of already-installed web browsers on your computer, and of links opened within them. At the same time, the history of your work with the clipboard ("Clipboard history" list) is stored on the Supervisor, and the list and configuration of your active applications are displayed.

Using the Supervisor you can: Display list of open links with indications of the browsers that opened them Display links from the list of Clipboard history Display links from the list of History Display list of installed web browsers Display list and operate with configuration of active applications Add opened links to bookmark collections Add links from the clipboard to bookmark collections Open links from the list of Clipboard history

Built-in web browser

Link Commander's built-in web browser supports a majority of options in operation with web pages in the browsers such as Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator, Firefox, Opera, and some others. Built-in web browser transforms Link Commander into a complete integrated environment that allows use of it on all stages of work with links; starting from opening them on Internet, and finishing by creating and managing collections.
